His entire adult life was spent in Orange County, New York. He married Mehitable Campbell on 3 Dec 1793 at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Walden, Orange Co., NY and fathered 9 children. 3 Alexander Austin of Cross Hill, Laurens, SC Three brothers share this database, Alexander (1755-1826), Samuel (1761-1826) and James Austin (ca 1875-1832), all born in County Antrim, Ireland. The brothers, with their wives and family, sailed from Belfast, Ireland to Charleston, SC arriving on 13 November, 1804. Alexander married Agnes and had 10 children; Samuel married a woman named Agnes and had 8 children; James possibly married Henrietta Austin 1794-1835), and is said to have had at least 5 children.  383 99 0 
4 Ambrose Austen of Jeromesville, Ashland, Ohio Ambrose Austen was born probably near Marden, England. His father was Thomas Austen. Ambrose married Susannah Beard of Rottingdean in Sussex, in 1779; he was 22 and she was 20. They had 9 children, all born in England. On 6 December 1818 he bought Lot 63 for $11 in Jeromesville, Ohio from a Christian Deardorff. Immigration records show an Ambrose Austen (aged 63) and a Joseph Austen (aged 20) embarking at Liverpool in February 1821 and arriving at Philadelphia on April 7 1821. They then went to Jeromesville, presumably to the land he bought three years earlier in 1818. It seems that Joseph lived with him on the farm and in 1833 took over the management. Ambrose died 29 Jan 1843 in Jeromesville, and is buried there. 838 240 0 
5 Austins of Hatteras Bank, North Carolina This database began documenting two separate North Carolina Austin clans, Thomas Austin of Currituck County and William D. Austin of Hyde County, North Carolina. Although the earliest generation appears in Princess Anne Co., VA (now in the Virginia Beach City jurisdiction), later generations spread out from the Hatteras area north along the Banks as fishermen, lighthouse keepers, Coast Guardsmen and ship-builders, and west to Ocracoke and the other major ports of Pamlico Sound.  2,248 942 0

We have found a record of John's parents in the Biddeford, Maine Vital Records and the Early Brunswick, Maine Records. Benoni Austin is estimated to have been born about 1705 to 1710. Benoni Austin mar. int. 04 Feb 1732 Benoney Astien and Masey Thompson both of Biddeford, ME. Masey/Mercy Thompson was born 01 April 1712 Kittery, York, ME. Benoni and Mercy Austin came to Brunswick, ME about 1737 where their family was recorded in the early Brunswick, ME records, providing names and birth dates of their 5 children John, Daniel, Rosannah, Mary, and Benoni Jr.  4,018 1,506 370

9 Caleb Austin of Oneida and Lewis Counties, New York Caleb Austin was born about 1777 in New York, and he died about 1856 in Lodi, Athens Co., OH. He married a woman named Phoebe and had at least two children, Robert Potter Austin, and Stephen Austin. Caleb and family appear in the 1810 Federal census for New York. He moved to Ohio living in Meigs Co. between 1816 and 1819. He then moved to Athens Co. where he ultimately died.  1,210 535 1 
10 Daniel Austin of Longmeadow, Massachusetts Daniel Austin of Longmeadow, MA is listed as the father in his son Daniel's marriage record (NEHGR, Volume 30, p 47). Daniel Jr. was born about 1761, and he died after 1841. Daniel, Jr. married Eunice Allen, born 21 Feb 1761 in Enfield, CT, who died 17 Mar 1833 in Longmeadow. They had four children. Not long after Eunice Allen died, Daniel Jr. married Charlotte Clark on 8 Sep 1833 at East Windsor, CT (no children of this marriage). She was born about 1770, and died after 1841. DNA evidence indicates that Daniel is directly related to the Samuel Austin of MA line.  237 89 0 
11 Edmund Austin of Rhode Island Edmund Austin, was born about 1706 in Kingstown, Washington Co., Rhode Island. He died and was buried at sea. He married Mary West, born about 1709, and had only one known child James. This Austin line was first published in the back of the Edith Austin Moore's book Robert Austin of Rhode Island where it appears along with other Austin lines that she felt were closely related to the Robert line.  580 224 0

Missing in the 1830 census for Sheldon indicates that he probably died before 1830. Hezekiah married a woman named Persis who was born about 1781 and died 4 Dec 1869 in Swanton, Franklin Co., VT. They had 3 boys, Elvin, Levi and Ira. DNA evidence indicates that Hezekiah is directly related to the Samuel Austin of MA line.  560 246 0 
18 Isaac Austin of Delaware Co., New York Isaac Austin was born about 1756-1758 and lived in Delaware County New York. He died between 1820 and 1830. He lived in the towns of Middletown in 1810, and Andes in 1820, where he is mentioned in an early history of the town as "Uncle Ike."” He served in the Revolutionary War as a private in the New York Continental Army and received a pension. He had a son Sylvanus and possibly a son Samuel. DNA test results show a possible common ancestor with the Henry Austin of Calvert Co., MD line.  744 326 0

As a young man, he moved to Franklin County, Pennsylvania where he met and married his wife Sarah about 1791. John and Sarah had 14 known children, most of whom arrived at adulthood, married and remained in Monongalia County, West Virginia. Jonah sailed on the "Hercules of Sandwich" in 1634 with his wife Constance, their children Jonah and Mary, and step-daughter Lydia Robinson. He apparently died at an early age of 26 before October 1802 when administration of this estate was granted to his wife Hanna Austin and a Reuben Austin per Letters of Administration, Book I, 1798-1806, Oneida County Records, New York. Levi married Hanna in February 1798, and had two sons, Jacob and Job. His widow, raising two young children, lived a long life, appearing in the 1850 census for Trenton, Oneida County, NY at age 84. He married first Nancy Sledd on 25 Dec 1821 in Campbell Co, VA and had 7 children. Nancy was born about 1800 and died before 1860. Miles married second Lucinda Allen Shelton on 15 Apr 1858 in Wytheville, Wythe Co., VA. Lucinda was born about 1818 in Rockingham Co., NC. There are no known children of Miles' second marriage. Not much is known about either John Austin or his wife Nancy. Their existence is based on marriage records and claims made in a widow's pension application for a John Robert Austin, presumably their son. This database presents both Austin lines of Elba "Eb" Branscomb Austin, husband of Ruth Marshall Austin who did the initial research. Elba's father's ancestral line ends at Miles Austin. His mother's ancestral line ends at John Austin. Both progenitors are detailed here. Research so far has been able to connect John and Miles to a common ancestor.  1,770 705 0 
39 Morris Austin of Whitehall, Washington Co., New York Morris Maurice Austin was born about 1744 and died 1776 in Skenesborough, Washington Co., New York. He married Elizabeth Moffett and had sons William and James. A land petition, executed by William Austin of the township of Yonge in the District of Johnstown, Upper Canada identifies William's father as Maurice (Morris) Austin of Skenesborough, New York. In 1773, Morris Austin and John Austin signed a petition to establish Skenesborough as a county town from Charlotte County. Later records indicate that son William lost his inherited lands because of his Loyalist standing after the American Revolution.  478 143 0

42 Nathan W. Austin of Washington Co., New York Nathan W. Austin was born in New York State about 1784. He married Sarah King, who was born in Connecticut about 1787. Together they had six children. Census records indicate that they lived in Washington, Ontario and Livingston counties in New York, and ultimately in the 1850 US census, in Freedom, Henry County, Ohio where they had their later born children.  160 70 0 
43 Nathaniel Austin of Greenville, South Carolina Nathaniel Austin was born about 1720 possibly in York, England. He married twice, first Mary Manning who gave birth to two sons in England, and after immigrating to Virginia around 1750, 3 more sons. Nathaniel married his second wife Agnes Dickenson in 1754 after Mary died around 1753 in Louisa Co., VA, and had 5 more sons plus his only daughter. This daughter, Mary Rebecca, was killed at age 17 years during an Indian raid of the village while returning home from a quilting party at a neighbor's home. Nathaniel obtained a Royal Grant in 1769 for 500 acres of land on the Little River (later named Gilder's Creek) where he built his home called "The Gilder Plantation". It was located one and a half miles inside Indian Territory in Austin Township, South Carolina. This area became Greenville in 1784.  2,916 851 0

48 Robert Austin of Kingston, Washington Co., Rhode Island In the preface of Edith Austin Moore's book "A Genealogy of the Descendants of Robert Austin of Kingstown, Rhode Island" Moore states, "Judge John Osborne Austin of Providence, Rhode Island, has given us the first four generations of the descendants of Robert Austin in his 'Genealogical Dictionary of Rhode Island.'" Judge Austin's genealogy lists 4 sons of Robert, Edward, Jeremiah, Joseph and John. DNA testing of three of the four son's lines, attributed to Robert, have come back with matching DNA making it likely that they had a common father. The belief that this was Robert is well founded.
