Notes |
- BIRTH-DEATH-BURIAL: Rose Hill Cemetery. findagrave.com. Aleatha Austin of Amarillo died Tuesday, April 2, 2013.
She lived to celebrate her 109th birthday on March 21, making her one of the oldest living women in Texas. Until January, she resided in her own home and lived independently with her Grandson, Michael J. Stillwagon.
She lived a remarkable life and saw things that most people only read about. She was born in Rothville, Missouri during the administration of Theodore Roosevelt, went on her first date in a horse and buggy, and lived to see a man walk on the moon. She was married in 1924 to Frank Austin who preceded her in death. She enjoyed good health until only a few months ago and kept busy around her home and reading and crocheting for her family and friends.
She is survived by her daughter, Jean, who lives in Lake Oswego, Oregon; three grandchildren, Kristi who lives in Oregon, Jeffrey living in Pennsylvania and Michael who lives in Amarillo. She had eight great-grandchildren and 12 great-great grandchildren.
