Description | Loyalist siblings Solomon and John took up arms in defense of His Majesty's Government in the Province of North Carolina during the "Rebellion in America." As a result, they eventually were forced to leave North Carolina and to petition for land grants in Upper Canada. Solomon was born about 1744 in Maryland and died 15 Feb 1826 in Woodhouse Twp., Norfolk, Ontario, Canada. He married Joanna Thomas about 1778 in Orange Co., North Carolina and had 9 children. Joanna was born about 1752 in Orange Co. and died 12 Apr 1834 in Woodhouse Twp. Not much has been recorded for John Austin. He married an unknown woman and had at least 1 son named John born 1767 in North Carolina. | |
